I'm Anke Ruschhaupt, originally from Germany, and a geographer by training. Some 10 years ago I started my own canoe rental on the Rio Mira in southern Portugal.
In order to be able to offer sustainable holidays at an affordable price I looked for like-minded people - and found them!
We are local tourism providers committed to the preservation of the Portuguese heritage and
share a sensitive approach to nature.

Boat trip with ECOTRAILS
"Spontan, unkompliziert, bezahlbar und nett. Alle in einem haben wir 5 wunderbare Stunden mit einem Boot auf dem Fluß verbracht. Morgens um 10 Uhr angerufen - um 12.30 Uhr saßen wir schon im Boot. Danke Anke ,o)"

Nice canoe tour from Odemira
"Unsere sehr spontane Anfrage wurde prompt beantwortet und wir konnten uns somit noch am selben Tag ins Boot schwingen. Eine schöne Tour durch viel Natur - mit der Tide hin (Flut) und auch wieder zurück (Ebbe), ein Traum. Der Kontakt ist nicht nur super freundlich, sondern es ist auch für alles gesorgt - Karte, Schwimmwesten, Tonnen und Säcke, sogar Hüte gegen zu viel Sonne bei Bedarf. Sehr zu empfehlen. Lieben Dank."

more nature is almost impossible
"Mein Mann und ich sind von Odemira aus ca. 2,5 Stunden über den Rio Mira gepaddelt. Einfach großartig. Nur Natur und Stille. Ein Erlebnis besonderer Art, auch für Anfänger wie uns war das kein Problem. Die Abwicklung war völlig unproblematisch, Anke sehr nett und hilfbereit, vielen Dank!"

Kayak tour 18km to Odemira
"Wir haben zu zweit die Tour von Casa Branca nach Odemira im Kayak gemacht. Anke hat vorher sehr schnell per Mail geantwortet, was bzgl der eigenen Planung oder Verschiebungen durch das Wetter sehr hilfreich war.
Trotz starken Windes war die Tour nur anfangs sehr turbulent und das Steuern des Bootes ist uns nicht leicht gefallen. Da kann man schon mal verzweifeln, auch kraftmäßig war hintenraus nicht mehr viel zu holen, aber wir sind gut angekommen und Anke hat uns mit dem Auto vorher zum Startpunkt gebracht. Wir waren 3,5 Std wirklich ganz allein auf dem Fluss und haben keine Menschenseele gesehen, dafür Krebse, Vögel und Fische. Danke!"

Wonderfully relaxed canoe tour
"Wir sind über Tripadvisor auf Anke gestoßen und nicht enttäuscht worden. Vom ersten sehr netten und freundlichen Kontakt lief alles super.
Wir haben die Kanutour von Vila Nova bis Casa Branca gemacht - ein herrlich entspannter Vormittag. Besten Dank an Anke für die tolle Organisation, die gute Einweisung und Betreuung und auch die Tipps nach der Tour.
Wer einmal etwas außerhalb des normalen Tourismus erleben möchte, ist hier genau richtig!"

Paddling in the canoe with little children
"Great experience. We (2 adults, 2 children, 3 and 6 yrs old) paddle 3 hours until high tide. Made a great break at the river. Had a swim. And paadled back with the low tide, aroznd 1,5 hours.
Beautiful scenery, some goats, sheeps, hours and donkeys at the banks. Flying fishes, turtles, heron and dragonflies. Thanks to Anke.

Great ride
"Superbe balade sur le Rio, où nous avons pu voir une faune et flore très dense. Vous pouvez voir des bancs de poissons sauter au côté ou devant votre canoë.... il n'y a rien autour de vous mise à part la nature. Un parfait endroit.
La dame qui s'occupe d'Ecotrail a immédiatement répondu à notre mail pour nous proposer des dates. Parle plusieurs langues et, est très sympathique (il y a un petit temps d'explication sur ce qu'on va découvrir tout au long.g de notre balade, et une carte est fournie avec les différents lieux où nous pouvons nous arrêter pour prendre un goûter ). Elle propose également un panier pic nique. Le temps n'est pas limité. Anke est très arrangeante et nous informe dès le début qu'on peut prendre notre temps "

Great Family Fun
"We and our 3 daughters (aged 7, 9 & 11) took 2 canoes on the 3 to 5 hour trip upstream from Odemira. It was a very fun trip, though admittedly that was of our own making with water fights and some questionable manoeuvres close to the river banks! The river was very peaceful and made for a very relaxing and enjoyable afternoon. Anke was very helpful on email, including lunch recommendations, and all went well with our departure and arrival back. We would certainly recommend."

Great Tour from Vila Nova de Milfontes
"We've done a tour with 2 canoes (2 adults, 2 children 7 & 11 years old) 13 km from Vila Nova de Milfontes upstream into direction Odemira till Casa Branca. It was a wonderful tour. The children loved it and we as well. The Service from the team was perfect. They were competent, friendly, customer oriented and they have done, what they said. We will do it once more, when we are next time in this area"

unforgettable nature and adventure
"Danke Anke! :) Wir hatten so eine wundervolle Zeit mit dem Kanu, es war einfach himmlisch. Wir sind 3 Tage den Fluss gepaddelt, Start in Milfontes und Ende in Odemira. Zwischendurch haben wir mit unserem Zelt an Orten übernachtet, zu denen man sonst niemals kommen würde, die Anke aber für uns klargemacht hatte.
Es war echt schön, die Natur auf diese Weise zu genießen! Wir haben nur selten mal andere Leute getroffen und wenn dann waren das Einheimische, die uns immer nett gegrüßt haben oder uns ihren Garten gezeigt haben :)
Anke ist sehr erfahren, super hilfsbereit und offen und mit der Ausleihe und Kommunikation hat alles super geklappt!

Great adventure in nearly untouched and unique nature
"I just finished the kanu trip from odemira upstream and the time in the kanu was great. You should be aware that it is demanding especially with the wind blowing against you but the adventure is worth the effort.
Anke is a great person. She really cares about the costumer and recommends the best fitting tour independent if that means more work or less profit.
If you are searching for an adventure than I really recommend calling her. She will have what you need.
I an already looking forward to my next trip to Portugal and my next kanu adventure.

An excellent half-day activity on the Mira river
"The activity is not limited by time and we could go up and down the river on our own pace and made plenty of stops along the way to admire the peacefuul and quiet view along the way. The picnic basket which was provided for extra cost was very good and gave us the oppertunity to enjoy local food on during the activity. NIce and friendly staff!"

A nice after noon sport activity
"On the phone Anke was very helpful and explained everything in detail. She also gave her recommendations of what she thinks was best suited for us. Very kind.
On location we had Lisa which together with her colleague did a great job explaining what the route was and how to manage the kayak! Very much recommend for a nice and pretty relaxing activity. We took a 3h trip with a stop to eat. One way was very easy with the wind and water stream at our back, on the way back, a bit headwinds but nothing too serious, very manageable with our kids (12,15).

Fantastic relaxing experience
"We were looking for something spontaneous to do in the area. We wrote ecotrails at 22:00 at night to make an appointment for the next day and got an immediate answer. Anke, the owner, was so nice to organize us a canoe trip for the next day at 9am.
We were able to canoe up the river and spend a good 4 hours enjoying the scenery. There is a lot of wildlife and the peacefulness is just amazing. We took a swim in the river and spend a romantic morning paddling through nature. Definitely recommended."

"We did a morning canoe trip from Milfontes to Casa Branca and loved it! Anke and her team are very friendly and extremely helpful and the organisation was really easy.

Off the beaten Track
"Few would choose Odemira for touring. It's off the beaten track, and a sleepy almost deserted town. But it's close to the beaches and and cliffs (half hour's drive) and it's on the Mira river where these canoe or kayak trips are great.
Times so you can go up river when the tide is coming in and down river when the tides are going out, it's a great way to spend 3 to 5 hours. No crowds, and great views"

A lovely way to spend a few hours
"We canoed with the tide for a few peaceful hours. We saw only a couple boats, but lots of fish and birds. The scenery was beautiful and the canoe enabled us to find quiet and zen.
The tide carried us along so the 14 km was not difficult, and the guide provided maps, instruction, and waterproof storage. She even picked us up at our hotel! I highly recommend this trip, as well as the company generally."
